Dennis Hans offers astute analysis of foreign policy, the news media, ethics and basketball. Prior to the Iraq war he exposed and documented the Bush administration’s many “techniques of deceit” (see essay links). Hans would like to see Obama in the White House; a mainstream media with a much larger progressive presence; and an up-tempo, free-flowing, non-brutal and flop-free NBA. The smartest gent never to have won a MacArthur “genius” award, perhaps this will be his year.

So much to say, so little space. Bright, affable, fairly fit, straight single male with varied interests. On a good day, can be reasonably charming. Not repulsive to the eye. Smooth-as-silk swing dancer. I use my impressive analytical powers to dissect a variety of things, including the form and rhythm of great, good and rotten b-ball shooters (Phil Jackson dropped my name in his latest book); the techniques of deceit governments use to sell policies the public would otherwise reject; beer and anti-drug commercials, and more. I’ve taught mass-comm and foreign-policy courses at universities in Florida, and might be open to such a position — if I could spend my valuable time sharing insights with students rather than reading and grading their essays. What I’d really like to do in the short term is work simultaneously with several of the 30 or so problem shooters in the NBA, who could dramatically increase their playing time and earning potential if they had a solid jumper and reliable free-throw delivery. I can help with both. I'd also make a swell NBA general manager or commissioner.
